or I guess they could just not broadcast SSID, and give out the SSID to a customer when they order. the SSID could rotate every day so it's different. but then again ther'd be sites up listing the current SSIDs for locations and updated daily i'm sure.
whatever way they implment it, they have to make it very easy for the staff to use.

I could envision their wifi server connected to their cash register. On your cash register receipt is a username that is valid for 45 minutes from the time of your paying for your food. The cash register tells the server to activate that password, then it times out after 45 minutes.
If a company as big as McD's was going to offer this on a big scale they would have the resources to set up a system like this.

that really isnt bad, but I would find it more useful at a restoraunt (correct, I have no clue how to spell it) where you are likely to sit without food for longer and not really be having a "fast food meal"
I'd be willing to pay 5 bucks every 2 hours in that case plus leave a generous tip if the signal and speed is good

see that's the thing.. the great thing about mcdonalds (from their standpoint) is customers come in, eat, and leave within 15 minutes. look at starbucks. I see guys who buy 1 latte and sit there for 2 hours on their laptop. however, i can't see anyone wanting to hang out in a mcdonalds for 2 hours.

I don't know about 5 bucks for 2 hours i'm think'n $0.50 a half an hour cuz really i don't know anyone who would like to spend 2 hours with your axim with a bunch of grese, manoase, musturd and other stuff that can ruin and or damage it. I mean i don't want it to end up like that vaio laptop commercial with everybody stading around me like that.FREAKY...........

I'll let you chase my mower around the yard if'n ya git a lil to bored.
Talking about connect to registers. One of the local grocery stores had their registers on a WiFi connection. Kinda like how BestBuy's were and were sniffed/hacked etc...
How do you go in a tell em, "Hey I was outside sniffing packets and I just wanted to tell ya that I can watch the computers on your network."
They ought to have a complimentary 15 mins on each register receipt. More ya pay as like when you add cheese. I can hear it now, "...would you like to supersize that, add cheese, and apple pie or surf the internet today?"

I guess the real question is if we can get that bundled into the "extra value" meal.

This Plan May Backfire On Them
If I have a PDA and a camera card plugged into it I could do broadcasts via the wireless. Showing live shots of employees dropping food on the floor then picking it up and putting it in the takeout bags. How exciting.....
Or the employe that takes out the trash then comes back in and prepares your food without washing their hands.
I think they may want to rethink this offering.
