Corporate security to blame

I have banging my head for the past two nights to get my Ax to synch wirelessly with my PC. I have tried everything (or almost everything) I’ve read here on the site. BTW, thanks for such a great site and input by all parties!

Anyway, to save some of you the headache……
I happen to work for a large corporation who has black ice running in the background on my corp notebook. I can’t edit the firewall in any way so I can’t stop blackd.exe from denying activesync (wcescomm.exe) server rights.

On another note: Does anyone know if it will be possible to synch wirelessly, directly to an IMAP4 enabled exchange server? Is this made easier with Windows Mobile 2003?

Thanks!!!

Believe me... I've thought of it! :)
They hid the prog pretty well, I looked into some of the logs they within the prog file folder and couldn't believe the stuff they were tracking. They are conpiling an evidence file which is communicated back to a tracking server!!!

funny thing is Black Ice is one of the weakest firewalls out there... still that serves you nothing if you cant change the settings... MAYBE JUST MAYBE there is a INI file you can change in your PC and then reboot... this message is not intended as evil... :P

Could you just ask them to enable the required network access? PPC being a tool that generally increases productivity etc.

They won't all it so as not to punch a hole in security.

Howard2k you speak of spying....
Spyware is getting sooo bad. I found this link the other day!

http://www.spywareguide.com

There is a list of all known spyware and links to details on each.

Speaking of security.. I was at a conference recently and one of the most memorable statements that was made was that one of the best ways for a corporation to stop people deploying rogue APs within the corporate network was to have the company deploy them. In other words "If you don't do it, then your staff will do it behind your back". Thought it was pretty interesting. And ironically a friend of mine actually deployed some AdHoc wifi gear in his office so he could AS from around the buliding floor..

Anyway, thought it was relevant since we're talking about corporate security.

How about syncing with the corporate server using IMAP? Any luck with that?

Not yet, I'm remote and the Univ where I'm at doesn't have Exchange 2K in production yet. Getting test accounts next week though for the test box!

The Univ is also experiencing the same issue with AP going up all over the place running DHCP serving out IPs messing with the Univ Wi-Fi initiative!
