DLink Repeater Problems
Hi guys,
I recently got a DWL-800AP+ range extender to improve my wireless range. The network works fine, I can stream media and view, copy files. However, when I browse the net its VERY slow, and thats when it works, most times it cant open webpages. Im pretty sure the issue has to do with my Axim, my laptop works fine. I'm running WM2003 and have no idea what could possibly be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I too am considering getting one. Have you noticed a difference with the repeater turned off? What's your signal strength? Do you have wep enabled?

If I turn the repeater off, the signal fades to marginal. With the repeater on, the signal strength is excellent but thats only the repeaters signal, no the full signal coming from the router. I have 64bit WEP enabled, on Key 1 but I'm sure thats not a problem, it works the same way with WEP disabled.
If I move the Axim closer to the router, the PPC switches to the routers MAC address and internet works like a charm. If I move away from the router and close to the repeater, the internet stops working or works slow. However, this is only on the Axim, my laptop works just fine.

It's set to repeater and not AP?
How about turning wep off on the repeater and letting the router handle it? If this is already the case, then please ignore.
Have you talked to DLink Tech Support?

Its set to repeater. Actually, I've also tried disabling the repeater´s wep. I talked to Dlink Tech Support and thwy walked my over a bunch of stuff with the router. However, both the router and the repeater work fine. I believe the problem has something to do with WM2003 network configuration

Roswell,
I hope you solve your issue. I'm going to be in the same boat here shortly... Good luck.

The router is a DWL-614+ also by DLink. I should also point out that the repeater works fine with my laptop and I have problems mostly with browsing the internet and checking emails, networking seems to work just fine.

Hi guys! For anyone else who is having this kind of problem, the solution seems to turn OFF the wireless's card power management (I have a DELL 1180). It works great. Now all I have to do is find a way for WM2003 to stop turning power management on every time it feels like it, :) Thanks to everyone for their help.

Then I believe that the problem is not with the network, but with your ISP perhaps? What ISP do you have?

Oh yeah, the notorious power management setting. I ran into that with my router and turned it off in ppc 2002. :)

I'm not sure how that repeater works, but if it gets the signal from one channel, and broadcasts it in another, then try ussing totally different channels. Like put channel one on your access point, and put the repeater to broadcast in channel 12.
