D-Link Air DCF-660W Problems

Well I ordered my CF card from Tiger Direct, I waited over the weekend because UPS does not ship on the weekends... It came in today. I downloaded the current drivers off the support site.. I install those to find the error message:

WLAN radio is off!

I go to the support site to find that there are a few tricks you can do, they don't work, I then look down to find that my CF card might be DOA (dead on arrival). I call D-Link tech support to find that it could take 6 weeks to get a replacement in...

ARG! Well if anyone else had these problems and were able to fix them.. please don't hesitate to post a reply! I have tons of time to cancel!!! ARG!

I purchased a Dlink CF660 W from Comp USA on July 13 for about $40 after rebate. It worked great for 2 weeks and then on the 15th day, it started acting up. Not connecting, connecting for a while and then freezing my Axim, or creating "unrecognized card inserted" message.

I called the Dlink tech support desk and they had me change some setting on my router which seemed to fix the problems, only to find out later, that the card was using the connect for a while and then freeze the Axim routing.

The next day I was on the phone again and this time the tech recognized that the card itself may be bad and gave the number for a return authorization (which you can only call during regular business hours).

The next Monday I was on interminable hold until I finally got a person who said that since I had had the card less than a month, I should return it to the place where I purchased it, as they only replace with refurbished equipment.

Luckily Comp USA allowed an even exchange, even though their policy is no exchanges after 14 day.

Today the new card is working fine, however, I will hold my breath when the next two week period is up.

i just got my 660W back from RMA - took 5 business days, and i didnt get a refurbed unit (brand new in retail box).

im in Canada.
