active sync keeps exiting on axim

i have never gotten my axim to sync before.

i can stay connected only for about 2 secs, just long enough to create a profile on the computer. but as soon as it "looking for changes" it gives me an error saying "synchronization error" then the AS on my axim will exit. It does not matter if i'm using the usb cable or wireless, i get the exact same problem. i have forwarded all my ports, reinstalled AS 3.7 numberous times, unplugged and replug the USB cable in different hole, delete profile and remake, used pocket host, tried literlly everything i can and have read of. please someone help me. thanks.

Well before your next sync, Make sure that the activesync isn't running in the backgorund by checking your Start->settings->System tab ->Memory ->Running Programs. It may seem to exit but it still may be running in the background somehow.
