I found out after 6 days of try to connect to my ad hoc network with Ambicom that it doesn't work 100%.. I email the company and they told me that they had alittle trouble with their card is in AD Hoc mode I'm assuming under WM2003 cause it didn't want to work for me. I haven't seen anyone have a problem with this card before that's why I bought one, but to find out that it doesn't work if you want to Adhoc.. That I think people should be aware of.. I'll assume it works in the other modes and works well under PPC 2002 but not the newer OS.. I exchanged it for a DLink 660W and now I'm up and running in 10 mins using the old drivers 1.1 the ver 2.0 that they have on there web site doesn't seem to work on my Axim (even though they said they tested it) I get an error that there's no network card.. but I'll try again later.
I assume it's a driver issue and that they will have it fix in their next release, but as of now be aware that, adhoc wasn't reliable for me.
ADHOC is when you don't have a router and want to connect computer to computer.. I was trying to ICS computer to computer cause I have a USB modem so I can find a router to plug my modem into...
I dont know, I have the Ambicom CF Card and a new Axim with WM2003 and it runs Fine in Ad-Hoc Mode. I can get onto the net via ICS, I can Sync via Activesync and I can do Filesharing. So far so good.
I was told by a guy a linksys that the card would not work in infrastructure mode since the driver was not finished properly. Sometimes they just pull these things out of the air.

So where does one get the proper Ambicom drivers for Windows Mobile 2003?
My Dell card True Mobile card installed and works fine but I bought an Ambicom WL1100C-CF card hoping to get better range and plan to return the Dell.
After downloading WL1100C-CF_CE_NET for Windows Mobile 2000 from the Ambicom web site I ran setup and things appeared to work fine and my Dell Axim even says that the wireless network is connected but I have three below problems. When I insert the Ambicom CF card I see the communication light flasshing green for a while but then it just stays steady greena fter a few seconds.
- I cannot actually use a wireless connection
- I show "driver not loaded" when I tap the botton right wireless status corner (it still had the Dell title even though I swapped cards).
- I have no ambicom configure utility in the program menu which doc implied I should.
During install, there was implied a list of programs that I could uncheck if I did ot want to install them but the dialog partially covered the list and upon hitting enter to use the default location and quickly moving the dialog over, I saw no items in the list.
There is an entry made into the PPC system menu that will remove programs and has the "Ambicom WLAN for CE.Net" listed. I have deleted it and the Dell software and resinstalled twice with no better luck.
I suspect I do not have the proper install for WIndows Mobile 2000 so perhaps someone could direct me to the proper location?
After looking at some more posts I think I have download the supposedly correct WM2003 file but am now thinking maybe Ambicom screwed it up as the WL1100C-CF_CE_NET.zip file unzips to a WL1100C-CF_CE_NET directory with a single setup.exe in it dated very recently as 9/10/2003 2:31 PM and is 5881 bytes. Since this is so recent I'm guessing others have used an earlier version? If so could you post it? Thanks, Dave
Well I got it working by going back and installing the Ambixom CE 3.0 stuff from my CD ontop of the WM2003 drivers that I downloaded which then put the config utility on the system.
Anyone else manage to install everything in one swell foop with the new drivers w/o having to do this in two steps? You'd think Ambicom would put the works into the setup.exe or at least document that you have to go back and add the rest with the old setup.
Now my "remove programs" now shows two entries" Ambicom WLAN for CE.Net" and "Ambicom, Inc. WL100X". Seems to have a lot better strength than the Dell CF so am sending that one back.
Also told Dell I was returning the leather case as the CF did not fit in it when zipped and they said they'd credit my account but to keep the case as it was under <$20 and was not worth their folling with. Interesting...
Please share your experience if you loaded Ambicom on a fresh WM2003 system. I wanna know if it was just me or whether Ambicom should be griped at some for their install and doc. I did like their config a lot better than Dell stuff also but miss the little strength meter on the main page that Dell put there.
As soon as I get my copy of WM2003 loaded. I'll let you know. So far I love my Ambicom WiFi CF and have had no problems but I'm still using PPC2002. And I agree with you, dave, about the Signal strength. Compared to my friends Dell Wifi CF, I have better range than him.

I had all sorts of problems with loading the Ambicom driver and 2003. Still doesn't work as well when dl'g my mail. Still working to see if I can get it to work. I was using the intersil drivers, but those do not work under 2003 as far as I can tell...
ANY ADVICE??

my mail is pretty damn slow on my axim (to connect, and download the mail, and to send and receive) with the d-link 2003 beta driver, its not too bad, but it is definetly not good. I know its not a problem with the server or anythin else, because it is my own server, and all the comps on my LAN and a friend's PC can do everything 4x faster then the axim. Haven't tested the axim with any other e-mail prog, driver, and so on.
-----Everything else including winc works great :D

I'd say its the beta driver, since EVERYTHING else works great, my computer is plugged into the same router, and it works great, and the d-link card is excellent for everything else.
Bah, Its not too big of a problem, and D-Link informed me that their OFFICIAL WM2003 driver will be out very shortly, with a WM2003 utility program, like in the PPC2002 drivers. I assume Ambicom, linksys, and others will follow shortly.

I also heard the exact same thing from D-Link today in fact and am currently running the beta D-Link just fine having traded it in for the Ambicom. Dave
