Alright first off, I saw some other threads like this but they were all dead and had no answers...

I've been messing around with the AIM ppc for my Axim v51 (i got it from the uk website) and whenever I try to connect, i get a message saying "An unknown communications error occured."
and thats it.

So Idk whats wrong, I havnt tried it with wifi or anything, just in the cradle... could that be the issue?

Have you confirmed that the ActiveSync internet passthrough option is active and working? While in the cradle, open up Internet Explorer and see if you can get to a website.

ya, everything else works; email, internet...

and i checked the port.... it makes no sense!

Search on the forums here and you'll quickly find out that the official AIM client for Pocket PC won't run at all on the X51v. I've heard of an unofficial AIM client that someone hacked up that does run, but the menus are on top and of course this program is like 4 years old. You're much better off with a more recent IM client. Check out Menneisyys's Instant Messaging Bible. There are some good IM clients which are also free, like Octrotalk.
