Axim X5 won't save my WAP key

I've recently been getting reacquainted with my Axim (X5). It still runs great however I've ran into a frustration with the Wi-Fi I don't remember having before.

I can successfully connect to my wireless network with WEP enabled, but everytime I remove the card or power off the Axim it will ask me for the WEP key again. I've tried a bunch of different things including reinstalling CF card drivers, deleting some wi-fi profile looking registry entries, but I can't convince it to save the key/settings.

Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Is there software I can d/l that will manage wi-fi profiles aside from windows built-in?

I would like to be able to turn on my Axim and not have to worry about pasting in the key, but I will take this over resorting to a hard-reset +full-reinstall which I suspect would solve this problem.

Which card are you using? I used a Linksys card with my X5 and never had problems with that.

I'm using the Netgear MA701 card. Yesterday when I searched for "not saving WEP (not WAP) key" I found quite a few posts, but no good fix other than hard reset. If I get ambitious I may try to do a hard reset with restore, but for now as long as I have the key in my clipboard the copy paste doesn't take more than a second extra to get connected.
