Anyone Get Spectec SDW-820 802.11b WiFi Card to work with Dell Axim X3?

Does anyone have a Spectec SDIO WiFi Card working with a Dell Axim X3/3i/30 Pocket PC?

I have an Axim X3 with built-in Wifi, that went bust on me about a year ago, but all other functions of the pda still work great, so I thought I would get a Spectec SDW-820 802.11b WiFi Card for using my old Axim as an extra for WiFi Coffee shop web browsing. I checked the compatibility requirements of the WiFi Card and my Axim X3, and they seem to match (Microsoft Pocket PC 2003/CE 4.xx, and a SDIO card slot).

Well, unfortunately I installed/tried both the spectec drivers by way of MS Sync, and CAB files, and I get no WiFi. In the beginning I was able to open the Spectec WiFi utility program (on my pda), which shows the adapter is searching for a signal, but no signal bars were evident when the WiFi program is open (and no signal bars are evident at the bottom right side of my pda screen). After closing the WiFi program I find later I can no-longer open the Spectec pda WiFi utility again. Also at first, I noticed the tiny green lights on the card flickering (even amidst not catching my WiFi Signal), but I no longer see those faint green lights flickering anymore.

My home network is WEP, not WPA, set to both b&g signal compatibility. I installed this Spectec Adapter on my iPAQ hx2755 (which already has internal working wireless that works on my home network, and windows 2003 Second Edition), and the wireless card works fine for the iPAQ, so it cannot be my Spectec Card. Also I have my Axim X3 on max battery power.

I even went as far as unintalling the Dell Factory PDA wifi antenna. Can anyone offer me their success or horror experiences using Spectec with an Axim X3/3i/30? Or does this SDIO Card just not work with Microsoftr pocket pc 2003 (first edition)?

Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated, I am at my witts-end here. Thanks!

Did you download the latest drivers from their WEB site like I recommended in the other thread?

Or, did you use the ones on the CD? Most people seem to have problems with those.

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the most recent drivers from the Spectec web site, but unfortunately the wifi still does not work. I cannot get an answer from Spectec as how prevalent this problem is with Axim X3's using windows pocket pc versioin first edition. I get no replies when submitting this question to them. If this is an issue they should not have this device listed as compatible with their product.
