Question DCF-660W Driver Update on PPC2002

I have a question for someone out there....

I just got the D-Link DCF-660W card and installed it without difficulty. I'm online, and it's very cool.

But the driver is v1.0.0, and I notice on the D-Link website that there is a file that appears to be version 2.0.0 (can't confirm, because I cannot find anything even approaching release notes, or comments about what the version really is). I tried to install this new version, and gummed up the WHOLE WORKS!!!

Fortunately, I was able to uninstall, and finagle my way back to ground zero without the dreaded hard reset, and reinstalled with the v1.0.0 driver, and I'm back in business.

Does anyone know what the improvements in version 2.0.0 are, or even if this IS version 2.0.0 on the D-Link website?

Also, does anyone know what must be done to install the new version WITHOUT all of this trouble (maybe I should have uninstalled the original version first, and then installed the new version)?

Thanks,

BEW21

That's what happened to me, also. And I ended up with two DCF-660W items in my connections dialog. There must be an issue with that driver.

bew21, I had a similar problem with that driver download and had to remove it. I'm not sure what the problem is.

My card works great without it. Hope that you're enjoying it!

I dont know what the advantages are personalyl from 1.0 to 2.0, but I have heard from many people that you want to be using 2.0, and that seems logical. The way to do this, is to remove your card from the slot, uninstall the 1.0 driver, soft reset, install the 2.0 driver, soft reset, insert your card

Ya! I seem to have had that same problem... What I am thinking of trying soon I am going to install the new v2 drivers and then install the WM2003 beta drivers on top of the old ones, some have said that it does not overwrite the utilities but only the old drivers, I will post a topic soon saying how that went.

Thanks. I don't want the 2003 beta drivers -- I'm still on PPC 2002. But I did consider the complete uninstall/reinstall of the v2 PPC 2002 drivers. I may try that this weekend. So many things to try and play with....so little time.
