Is file sharing possible with a wireless connection? Someone mention it to me the other day and I can't seem to figure out a way to do. Or if it's even possible.
I've actually figured it out using file explorer and mapping the drive. Except eveytime I try to connect It tells me to check/change my VPN settings. Has anyone had experience with this?
I am having a similiar problem, I have a netgear router setup with the MA701 on the Axim. I can browse the Internet get my e-mail from a pop account and have WEP enabled. My issue is that i cannot map a drive, Resco keeps displaying the message that it can't find any computers in the network. The drives are definetly shared as if i log on using my laptop i can see the shared drives.
I have spent about 2 days trying to get this to work to no avail.
Disable any firewalls you have running (including the one built-in on WinXP) and see if that lets you have access.
Alternatively, if your Axim's name still includes the underscore, change it (on the Axim) and make sure to not include any unusual characters. After doing this, you'll need to re-establish the partnership with the USB cable/cradle before doing the WiFi connection.

I use a Socket Wlan card and I could get access to my files on the Win2000 Box, with
UNC notation of the server and directory. Is it possible somehow to map a directory?
(so that it can be seen by my GSplayer?)
In file explorer, I click on open. I then enter the file to my host computer. It tells me connecting.... then "Check VPN setting/User name or password my be incorrect"
I am still having the same problems, the Axim name is correct, i can ping all the pc's in the network, I can surf the Internet, receive pop mail but just cannot seem to map a drive to any of the other pc's, the files are definetly shared as i can access them from my laptop. There are no firewalls active or installed at the moment as i thought to get it all working first and then to install the firewall.
Could it be a setting on the router? Netgear MR814V2.
Weekend Warrior. It's your connection settings. I don't use WM2003 so I'm not sure which one exactly, but under start, settings, connections you can adjust them.
WAM. Have you installed pockethosts? Do you have NetBIOS over IP enabled on the PCs (depending on your version, should be somewhere like network properties, TCP/IP, Advanced, WINS).

Actually, I check in at the Wireless forum first thing after logging on, so posting in the forum is fine. It makes it possible for other people to give an answer since I'm typically only on after work.
wam,
If you haven't already, give Howard's suggestions a try. I'm not personally familar with your Netgear router but I assume the wireless and ethernet connections are both on the same subnet so I don't think it's the problem. I remember a few people with WM03 have had problems with PocketHosts installed (causing the Axim to only allow a guest partnership) so if it doesn't solve your immediate problem, you may want to consider taking it back off.

Also check to makesure your subnet IP's matchbetween your computer and Axim- I was not able to get a listing of computer on my network before i changed my subnetIP, you shouln not need to do this if you are using dhcp on your router
