Setting up WIFI using Axim 400 WM2003 and DCF-660W wifi CF card
It's taken me ages to get this setup to work despite reading lots of threads and documents. I am just hopeful that it might help someone new like myself to setting up wifi with the abovementioned components:
My setup is now as folows:
Settings on Axim:start>settings>connectionsTAB>connections(ico n)> tick > this network connects to the internet
tick > This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
ProxyServer: Name of ISP (Example:proxy.iprimus.com.au)
then TAB advanced: http>name of proxy server again, port 8080 in my case
socks>name of proxy server again port 1080 in my case
Type: tick Socks4
Then: start>settings>connectionTAB>wireless ethernet.
TAB on name of network or add
Conects to WORK
adhoc connection
Next TAB on authentication:
Data encryption>WEP enabled
Network Key: XXXXXXXXXXXXX (Your WEP Key)
Keyindex: 1
TAB OK
***TAB Network adapters: My network card connects to: WORK
With the above setup I was able to do the following on my AXIM 400:
1. Activesync via WIFI
2. Get on the WWW (Provided I have a dial-up connection to my ISP
3. Use Resco explorer to MAP my C:\ on my laptop so that it can be accessed by the AXIM
Note: with this setup I was NOT able to get emails from my ISP
Now, When I change my network card setting as to where it connects to from WORK (see above ***) to the Internet my email works but my Active sync does not.
So there you have it. I am very new to all this but hope that the above may be useful to someone out there.
Kind Regards
Gerard
