netgear ma701 cf and netgear mr814 router

I just got a new Netgear router and Netgear compact flash wi-fi card. Basically, net surfing and wireless active syncing worked right out of the box. I am not real educated about this wireless stuff and was relieved that everything worked together so easily. Range appears to be strong because I went fairly far and still had a full signal. By the way I have WM 2003. After surfing for about 30 minutes I noticed my battery had gone from 100 to about 80 something percent. I did a search on this forum of other people posting about battery life and mine seemed high. Everything else seemed ok and I recharged the battery. A while later after recharging the battery, I started surfing again and a second issue arises. I started getting a "memory critically low" message. There were no other programs running so I am not understanding why my resources are so "heavily used." Has anyone else experienced this?

My guess is either the temporary internet files or a memory leak. I haven't heard of a memory leak with the netgear drivers but there are add-on aps that have this problem.

For the temp files, check around the settings in Pocket IE and see if you can change the amount of space devoted to them (seems like I've seen it but I don't have time to search for it right now).

I went to Pocket IE and cleared history and deleted files. That cleared up my error message about "memory critically low." It really freed up tons of memory when I did it. Now, I guess I'll do some more research to see if my battery discharge rate while using the CF is normal or excessive. Maybe not. What kind of battery life do you get when you are surfing with your CF Wifi card? By the way, thanks for tip on the history deletion stuff.

The battery life varies substantially with different WiFi cards. I haven't kept close track of it lately (I usually have the PDA plugged in whenever I'm not using it and often when I am since the power cord reaches my sofa where I'm frequently using it). But, when I first got my SMC card, I think I estimated I could get around 3 hours of fairly active use from my standard battery. I was pleased with that because the SMC card was reportedly kind of a power hog amongst the available CF cards.
