My first time surfing with WM2003!
OMFG. WM2003's PIE is so amazingly amazingly awesome and FAST!!!
This is my first time using my axim wirelessly since I sold my MA701 back in July or so, hoping to get in on one of the $30 AR deals. alas, the deal i wanted ran out before i could get one, and then there were nothing but deals with $40 rebates which i didn't want to deal with. i found this refurbished (excellent condition, looks new, and so does the documentation) MA701 at justdeals.com, but they sent me a MA311 first and I had to wait over a month total before getting wireless again. so here i am....
one other thing changed since i sold my old MA701--I sold my old PXA250 X5 and got a PXA255 with WM2003--a major part of the reason I did that was to get the new PIE because i absolutely could not stand PIE in PPC2002. I mean, what is the point of wireless if all you can do easily is check email?
in comparison to my PPC2002 experience, this is a freaking dream. PIE is SOOOOO much faster, it renders pages really really well, and I'm seriously digging this arrow-key link-scrolling thing. (tapping an arrow key on my foldable keyboard selects a new link or text box, and when you get to the bottom of the visible page, the down arrow will scroll the page down for you--at a very good pace, i might add.
when i sold my old MA701, part of my justification was that even if I didn't get in on one of the deals, it'd be ok to go without a card because i didn't really feel like i was getting much out of it. boy, was i kicking myself later on for thinking that. while the amount of time you spend online--even in an access-point rich environment like my school--may not be much, having the ability to download something virtually anywhere on central grounds (classrooms, libraries) any time is really valuable. i found myself needing to check something online or to check my email quite often in situations where the nearest computer lab was 3-4 minutes (and many stairs) away and i needed it in 30 seconds. examples include needing to check emails about classroom changes, checking online info (like homework assignments) and so on. also, i am a big slacker/procrastinator and if you are at all the same way you know that the last minute is always worth at least a few hours of normal productivity.
wireless is SO worth it for me, and doubly so now that MS got PIE right finally.
lastly, i must compliment Chris and the aximsite crew for the great job they have done with the mobile site which i am surfing right now. I LOVE THIS PLACE.
