Question x3i MAC address

Is there a way within Pocket PC 2003 to determine the MAC address of my internal wireless nic on my x3i? I can't find the MAC address in the Dell wLAN utility, system information shortcut or anywhere else.

Is the my only option to disable MAC filtering, connect my PPC to my network, write down the MAC address per my router's DHCP client list, add my PPC's MAC address to the allow list and re-enable? Seems silly. :rolling:

Yes it does, doesn't it? I've looked everywhere I can think of on my device, but can't find it. I had to do exactly what you said, disable MAC filtering, add it to the list, then re-enable it.

On Dell PCs, Dell puts a text file in a folder that contains crucial information, including the hardware address of embedded NICs. See if there is any text file in an obvious place on your Pocket PC. They normally name it after your service tag (i.e. 2g54c01.txt)

Tried that aardwolf, looked under the batery where the only text is printed and didn't see a MAC address. Last night I eventually just did it the long way and it worked fine. To confirm my settings I looked at the details of my IP info, and lo and behold, there was the MAC address Here's how to find it, FYI:

Launch the Dell WLAN utility (Start, Settings, Connections)
On the STATUS tab click MORE INFO.

I hate it when stuff that's 2 simple steps like that takes me a frickin' day to figure out... especially considering I'm a network administrator :rolling:
