I just bought wi fi (802.11b) stuff [PCMCIA card, router, and soon CF card]. i already have an existing wired network of two computers with a hardware router. I was wondering how to set up the wi fi router w/ the hardwire router. Should i put the wi fi router behind the hardware router, or just let the hardware router collect dust in the closet and use the wi fi router.

I know, a lot of questions, but any help would be appreaciated

Some WiFi routers have a setting to turn off the routing features and let them run as access points only - but I'd probably just use the WiFi router as a router and sell the other one on e-bay.

I have a Linksys WiFi broadband router (model BEFW11S4), which is happy to operate either as an access point or as an up-front Ethernet+WiFi router. I've used it in both capacities; works very well.

if you are going to need both, set it up so the wifi router is the first in line and the hardware line is second. connect the input directly in to the wifi in, and then use one of the four connections to connect your hardware router.
