Cool Firewalled!!! No streams

I set up the WME to broadcast and used my WMP9 on my axim to pick up the signal. When connected to my computer via the USB travel sync cable WMP9 received the broadcast when I typed in the URL. But when I tried to connect wirelesly on my schools campus WMP9 was unable to connect so I am assuming that this is a firewall issue that is keeping me from receiving streams over the net anyone know a way around this??

Check with your school's IT people. They'll know how your firewall is configured and if it's causing issues. They will also be able to tell you whether it's against policy to stream the media.

If you decide that you don't want to do that then you might be able to stream it on port 80 and see what happens. But that's a guess since I don't know how they have setup their security.

I use port 37 for my I.M. client instead of the default. Try known service ports, see if that helps.

8080 is just a re-direction of port 80 (web) traffic.

So yes, instead of sending traffic on 8080 tell it to send on 80 and then on your PPC connect to http://url:80 instead or http://www.url:8080

You MIGHT be able to. But although I know how ports work I know nothing about how your schools network is configured. Worth a shot but don't hold your breath. You should just ask them.

It in there in one of the configuration changes. Can't remember where I saw it but it was pretty obvious. During the initial config of the stream it asked and then you can access it later too. I don't have it installed on this PC but if you can't find it let me know.
