Ok ... I've read and re-read the advice on here and Ike's great resourse of info, but I'm still left in the dark. I don't know if I'm too mad now to be able to figure this out on my own or if I'm just that dense. I know the network works, because I have my dad setup with his D-link card for his laptop, and that literally took less than 2 minutes for him to start surfing off my router.
I have received a WCF12 as a gift and have not been able to even see my wireless netork. Even after I make my SSID visible and disable WEP, nothing. I have it on Infrastructure and see nothing when I scan. I've followed the instructions to a tee and have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. I actually came into work today to get away from the frustration of not being able to get the darn thing to work.
Does anyone have it working with Linksys router that can offer further advice? I'm frustrated and desperate here.

Which drivers are you using with the CF card? If you have WM03 on your Axim, they have beta drivers for it which should work better. There are a couple of threads about setting them up here in the wireless forum if you look around a bit..

Ike dude ... I have looked around the great pool of info on this site, but it seems to be that people run into problems after they see the network. I can't even see the network. I don't get it, I thought it's supposed be lickity split instead of lickity split headache. I'm running PPC 2002 on my Axim.
Also, thanks for the reply on this

Goto START->SETTINGS->CONNECTIONS and click on Wireless Ethernet
The Configure Network Adapters window pops up... Do you see "WCF12 Wireless CompactFash Card" in the list of available adapters to modify? If not, you need to download the BETA drivers for the WCF12.
Stick with these guys and they will help get you connected. Both Howard2K and IkeHiker have helped me with my WiFi issues.
I have the Linksys WCF12 and it worked great under ppc2002. I had to go with the Beta drivers as suggested when I upgraded to ppc2003; I lost all the information the old driver used to give me, but it works for now.
None the less, stick with these guys and they will get you working!
First, I'd like to thank you guys for helping me, that's what I love about this site ... strangers helping strangers (no matter what the season).
Ok, here is the lowdown. I have PPC2002, I can see the card as a connection option on my Axim, I have disabled WEP, enabled SSID, am on channel 6, and haven't done any MAC address settings. My dad surfs off my AP with his laptop D-Link wireless card no problem. When I open up Linksys on my Axim, I have everything set to default, and it is on Infrastructure. When I go to Survey to Scan ... nothing is found. The LED just keeps blinking and does not go solid.
At the moment, I am at work so I don't can't try stuff just yet. Last night after work, I installed a new hard drive (slave), but I had to download a Maxtor program to see the drive, and now I can't boot my computer up since I don't have a copy of Windows 98 SE (it's missing). I'm getting a copy tonight, and should be able to try out your suggestions. I will come back here to review provided I can fix the hiccup tonight.
Again, I thank all you helpful tekkies ... this website is very helpful, and I think I should become a contributer after this.

Looks like a hardware problem. After sheer frustration I flicked the card with my finger (not hard ... more like flicking someone's ear lightly) and didn't the SOB give me 100% Link and Signal quality! Gosh darn!
Naturally, it lasted all of 10 seconds and hasn't worked since. I'm afraid to flick it again, as to me this an obvious hardware problem with the WCF12 card (since my memory cards work flawlessly). Could this be due to the Linksys' tight fit in the X5? Has anyone else experienced this type of problem before?

This may be a dumb question, but you haven't dropped the card at all? I dropped mine and the case cracked open slightly and it stopped working. Pressed it back together again and it's been ok :)

No, I haven't dropped the card at all (I'm very careful to the point of being paranoid with all my computer stuff). I'm going to go and hopefully exchange the device tonight. I will say that due to the tight fit in the Axim, the card has a little mark on it. It's not a big deal, but I know I'd notice it if the roles were reversed.
I appreciate the advice I've received on this website ... even though it turned out to be a "device issue".
Cheers

The saga continues. The store wouldn't give me an exchange and all they can do is ship it to the manufacturer which will take 4 to 6 weeks!
Ya know, I love my gadgets but this stuff ticks me off. Anyway, I don't know how many of you have dealt with Linksys but I hope they have good customer service.
