WIFI with Dialup through router? Help.

Ok, here is the deal. I had wireless at my apartment using my cable modem just fine. But now I moved out into the country, and until I set up satellite internet (expensive!), I only have dialup as an option. I have read that you can connect a router to a computer, then get wifi through my Ax through the router. How would I do this? I have a router, and a CF wifi card for my Ax, but no card for the computer, so I can't do an Ad-Hoc network. I read through the posts, and Ikehiker's guide, but I couldn't really get it to work. Help me out folks!

Hook your computer up to the internet using your dialup .. Run the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) wizard .. Hook your router up to your computer .. Most wireless routers have jacks on the back to hook to your computer with a cat5 cable (I think you can do it wireless but the cable makes setup easy) .. In your router configuration you should be able to turn DHCP off (effectively turning your router into an access point) this was your Axim will pull an IP address from your computer ...

You should now be able to access the internet wireless whenever your computer is dialed into the internet.

(I hope I got that right since its been a while)

Wonderful, that did the trick marvelously. Oddly enough, I had done almost that exact same thing, and it didn't work. I must have done something just a little different before. Well, it is slow as all getout, but at least it is anywhere in the house!

I actually haven't completely gotten it to work yet. I spoke to soon before. I got the router working, and my Ax connected to the router, but have yet to get my Ax to connect to the internet. It will connect to the router, and the router is connected to the computer, but I can't figure it all out.

I have it going through one of the LAN ports. I have a few more things to try, but let me know if you get it working.

I must be 100% networking illeterate! I can't even get that program to work. First it was telling me I need to close any other programs using internet sharing (from my first attempts at creating a network). I think I finally figured that out, but it took me forever. I may not have even done it the right way, because I still can't get it to work. I got the program running, it has found the correct internet settings, and the correct router settings, but still no Axim connection! I am at my wits ends.

This is where one of my many problems come in. I think I found somewhere that did it, but I am really unsure. Is it just me, or is it hidden somewhere that I can't find? Where do I disable it at? Thanks for your help.

Hmm, maybe that is my problem. I have a generic CompUSA router that I got for very cheap, and I don't think it came with any software for my computer. I will check the packaging again to see if I missed a CD or something, but I don't think I ever installed ay software for it.
