problems trying to sync and share files in wi-fi

Ok. I have a cable modem connected to a Lynksis router. My pc is connected by ethernet (wired) to the router. My Axim X5 has an Ambicom cf card. I can browse the internet in the Axim with no problem. I can send and receive e-mails wireless also. I haven't been able to figure out how to sync wireless and also how to view my share folders on the Resco file explorer. Can anybody kind of walk me through this step by step or direct me to a thread that might. I already tried http://wifi.aximsite.com/wifi_net.html but it didn't do any good. I believe I did everything that he wrote there, but nothing. I will appreciate any info. Thanks

The following are in the WiFi How-to but I repeat them anyway. Problems with sync/networking usually relate to one of the following:

1) a firewall on the partner PC
2) the name of your Axim (if it has any characters other than alpha-numeric, change it)
3) not having all the connection settings to "work"

where can you see/change the name of your axim ?

You change it by going to Start, Settings, System tab, About, Device ID tab. I think you need to do soft reset after changing the name. You may need to delete and recreate your partnership in Activesync after changing the name.

I would try changing the setting for "My network card connects to:" to Work. You get there by tapping the connection icon (the two arrows) and tap settings. Open Wireless Ethernet, Network Adapters tab and it is at the top of the screen. That will most likely fix the problem. If you do not know how to change the name of your Axim, it is probably set to the default name, which works fine with wireless sync.
