Question D-Link 660 WEP problem

I am having problems running my D-Link 660 with WEP enabled.

I have WM2003 with a D-Link DCF-660W. When I ran my wireless card with the original drivers that came with it I had no problems running WEP enabled.

Then I decided to install PocketWinc so that I could check out other wireless sites. PocketWinc would not recognize my card with the existing drivers. When I went to D-Links site and downloaded the beta drivers, PocketWinc worked but the configuration utility quit working for D-Link.

I read somewhere here that the Intersil drivers would work with the 660 and PocketWinc so I installed them (v2.00.09.0103). Again, PocketWinc works fine but as soon as I enable WEP I can no longer make an internet connection on my LAN.

I have tried changing from 128-bit to 64-bit encryption on my network as well as changing the keys with no luck.

I would like any suggestions except to tell me to go back to my original config which is what I already plan to do if no one can offer me a solution. Thanks.

I ran into some problems when I used WEP on my D-Link wireless access point because I chose the 128 HEX option rather than the 128 ASCII option. The problem was that my D-Link DCF-660W did not have enough space to enter the full HEX Key, but I could not really see that. When I switched to a 128 ASCII WEP Key on the access point, I was able enter the full key on the 660 card. It had me puzzled for awhile. I am not sure this applies to your situation, but it is a thought. My D-Link 660W works very well.... now.

Good Luck,

My router configuration doesn't give me the option to use ASCII Keys.
It does however, let me use a passphrase which it then converts to hex.

I have since given up on PocketWinc and reinstallcd thc original drivers that came with my 660 and it once again works fine with WEP enabled. I'just can't go sniffing around. ;-)
