As a birthday present to myself, I spent part of the day (3 hours) on the phone with Dell technical support (in the states). <sigh>

I have an Axim X3i with a Dell Truemobile 2300.

So, I have tried to add the security features one at a time and can't get past SSID broadcast, No MAC and WEP enabled.

I have read, printed and are now "dog eared" Ike's WiFi pages which made me feel that I knew more than the techs. Certainly most of you here do as I have searched and read every thread here having to do with WIFI.

Norton Firewall and XP own firewall are disabled.

Netbios are marked as enabled in the LAN configuration.

So I have tried and can connect and re-connect with no WEP, no MAC and the SSID being broadcast.

Each time I remove the old settings on the Axim and put the new ones in.

I can connect with WEP, SSID broadcast and no MAC, but if the connection is lost, I can't reconnect.

I can't connect at all with MAC at all, even after entering the MAC address into the router. The tech said that the Axim might not support MAC and that using WEP, even with the SSID being broadcast is sufficient security.?????

I only want it to use around the house, not out in the real world. Someone near by has their SSID broadcast and no WEP. My Axim always wants to connect to that.

Is there a way to have a set address?
