Linksys WCF12

Is this the wrong card to be using. I downloaded a update on the
linksys site[URL=http://]linksys.com/download/driver.asp?dlid=82 I still
cant get it work for lots of reasons. One is it does'nt install easily
when you run setup it does'nt finnish unless you open utility file
in there you have WIN CE30 & WIN CE40 the 40 does'nt put the active sync in action so it can load it on the AX but the 30 does. what good all this is I have no idea! cause it still does'nt work. The AX wants to know what I put in her.It does not reconize the card the light will not stay on the icon does'nt activate it does do a nice uninstall though.Should I leave it this way or what? Or is there a trick or something simple I've missed. I know the linksys WCF12 works good in the 2002 I put one in my mums AX thats why I bought the darn thing! I could realy use someones help with what to do next. thanks:crooked:

I have observed the same exact symptoms with the Axim X5 and the WCF12. I called Linksys tech support three times (which is now outsourced to India) with no success. I finally called the office in Irvine, CA and spoke to them. My case was escalated to US tech support. As soon as I get this resolved, I will let you know the solution.

I am also having no end of trouble with Bluetooth adapters, the Anycom CF-300 and the Socket brand. I have the feeling I will have to go back to Pocket PC 2002 OS on the Axim. I tried calling Dell support, but that too led me to India, where after going around and around for 30 minutes, I hung up.

I am having the same problem. I've reinstalled the driver software from the CD three times and I still get the message "Unrecognized Card" everytime I insert the CF card. I've tried the default device name and a couple others, but none work.

Let me know if you ever get an answer from Linksys!

I can help you.

1) Do not insert the card.
2) Install the software that came on the CD.
3) Download the beta driver here:
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/beta/SW_CD_Beta081903PPC2003.zip
4) Make sure Axim X5 is in cradle and attached to ActiveSync
5) Unzip and install
6) It looks like nothing happens, but it did.
7) Insert WCF12
8) Card is OK, Application works, but site survey does not.
9) Use PocketPC Network Card to configure.

I need some help woth my linksys wcf12
I did everything you guys told me, but it only works sometimes.. When I plug it in, it sometimes blinks and connected to the network, but when I turn off my pda and turn it back on it doesn;t work anymore and I will have to take out the card and plug it in again lots of times to make it work. I am running win2003 with a iPAQ 3950. O, and also, I am using a d-link wireless router but I only connected to my network couple times, the other times, it would connect to my friends network that lives near me.. can someone help..

Many times when this happens to me I will do what you did; pull it out and put it back in. If that doesn't kick it started, then I do the following:

Here is the symptom: I plug in the WCF12 card the light comes on and starts blinking, which tells me I don't have a connection or I am not authenticated.

Then I stumbled across these steps:

With the card plugged in,
Start: Settings: Connections Tab
Wireless Ethernet: Click the connected network: Authentication Tab
What ever the setting is for Data Encryption is, make the opposite setting; for example if Data Encryption is unchecked, check it. Then Exit out of all the network connection windows.
Now, go right back in and undo the changes you just made. This works everytime for me.

Good luck and let me know if it works for you.
