Mad Pocket IE Proxy Just Doesn't Work!

After hours upon hours tonight, I've come to the conclusion that my Axim (X5, ppc2002) just will never ever use a proxy server. I have the Linksys WCF12 card and my settings currently are (Work settings, Work settings, Work) with "this network connects to the internet" checked and proxy checked and my proxy info entered. I've been trying different combinations of Work and Internet settings all night. I can get on the internet just fine if I don't want to use the proxy server but that's the problem, I need to use it! I want to use Proxomitron to filter out portions of sites so they will load really fast. Otherwise, the sites I want to browse are unusable on the PPC because they load so slowly. I've tested it with saved html pages and it will work if I can just get the PPC to use the proxy server. I use the proxy on my desktop just fine. Arrrrrrrrgh. Any help appreciated.

This most likely will not help but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Make sure that you have specified the correct proxy and port number. If this doesn't help, try entering an IP address for the proxy server, eg. '192.168.0.1'.

Also, it is possible that the proxy server itself is the problem rather than the PPC, just an idea.

Good luck.

No I think he's right. Pocket IE doesn't like proxies. It is difficult or impossible to make it connect properly. When the proxy server is different from the DHCP server or the proxy server isnt a DHCP server, pocket IE just goes all to heck.

This may not be the best option but it may solve your problem. Try downloading Net Front . It has the ability to define a proxy server whereas Pocket IE does not.

This may or may not solve your problem and even if it does work it will cost you $30, but at least you can try the trial version and see if it works.

Good luck.

Thanks for looking at my problem...ya, made sure the proxy address was correct and it is separate from the DHCP server. I'll check out Netfront, maybe that'll fix me up.

Wow...thanks for the suggestion on Netfront. It's so much faster than PIE on the sites I want to view that I don't even need the proxy.
