Question Wireless using IR and Nokia 6310i

Just like many of you I am waiting for my axim to arrive (hopefully tomorrow).

In the mean time I was wondering if it is possible to connect wirelessly to the internet using the Ir port on the Axim and Ir port on my Nokia 6310i like I could with my now redundant palm.

If it is possible I would really appreciate someone explaining to me how?:rolling:

You cannot use the IR function on your Nokia 6310. Wont work. Have to get a BlueTooth FlashCard ($70 approx) to interface with your BlueTooth Nokia 6310. Then, call ATT, have them run you through the ISP set up. Took me three days to finally get them "partnered". Lots of luck! Now I have another problem!

Sorry - but thats a crock... ;)

I have had my 6310i working with my Axim in both PPC2k3 and PPC2k3 (2k3 is better as you now get the option to disconnect the call :) )

Just set up a modem connection using the generic IR modem connection option, and enable IR reception on you phone. Point the axim at the phone (about 2-4 cms away) and off you go.

The only thing that got on my nerves in ppc2k2 (apart from teh lack of disconnect) was the modem dialing rules, but they dont take too long to figure out. I would help you on that, but I am now 2k3 and have forgot how I managed it in 2k2.

So in a nut shell, you dont need BT to dial your ISP thru your 6310i.

Sounds like this could be a GSM only function - about to get my AXIM and I run a 6310i in Oz - so will be playing by close of play today I hope...

Will feedback on progress of the IRDA setup up!

I have a nokia 6210 and can easily connect to the internet using the IR port. I use the same method as jiberjaber.

works well

p.s you will need to have your SIM data enabeled by your mobile phone company
