Low Power Cards

Has anyone tried any of the wireless cards billed as low power?
Socket and Sandisk specfically do so, with the Socket drawing 20 mA when in listening mode and Sandsik drawing 27mA in that state.

Does the minimized power usage impact performance greatly? Do other cards try to compesate for higher power usage with there software?

Thanks

I have had experiences with a Socket card as well as with numerous cheaper cards like D-Link, SMC and Ambicom.

Socket drained the battery noticably less as well as had much better reception than any other card.

It's the only card thats worth its price.

Don't buy Ambicom. The DHCP wouldn't work at all with our Linksys WAPs.

So I am running a socket also

I am running the socket card. but have noticed dell now has one that looks just like it. 1/3 the price. try that first so you have to put the dell down sometime to eat and other things. might as well recharge it after spending 5 hours wireless anyway. I rarely spent more than a hour at a time on it as it is.

try it then put it on ebay if you really want to go with the more expensive card.

and so I tried it

downloaded it. didn't see the download for an Xscale processor so I picked the download for an arm processor. installed it . found it in my start menu. clicked it . and it did not work. so I unloaded it from my system . closed its case.
