Active Sync Problems

Have tried the settings in the how to guide but still cannot connect to active sync, keep getting a message stating " Cannot start communications with the desktop computer" "reconnect your device if the problem persists see microsoft active syns help.

I am using the new X30 (high) with built in wireless and a SMC wirreless router. I am using Mcafee Firewall and have set full permission for active sync. I can connect to the internet thru the X30 as well as a sharedfolder on my pc using resco explorer. Any ideas on what might be stopping me from being able to sync

Every post I've seen from a user with this message, they have a firewall running. Have you tried disabling the firewall completely? Note that disabling the firewall often does not fix it and if you do a search on the site, there are numerous examples of people making the initial post, getting a reply such as this one, and then nothing more.

Yes I turned the firewall completely off, my router also has one built in but I.m not sure how to turn it off, I just recently switched from an X5 that I was syncing wireless, in fact the x30 was working then the wireless quit working so I ended up doing a hard reset and reloaded and went thru the tutorial you posted syncing first using the cradle 7 cord and now no wireless sync. I looked thru all the settings on the x5 and they appear to be the same. Would anybody be interested to look at some screen shots to see if something is wrong if so what screens should be reviewed?

just solved the problem had something to do with the way I set the name up for the device not quite sure what because i was just using conley as a name changed to conley1 and it now works. It still synced with the cord the old way any idea why this would work with the cord but not wi-fi?

Sorry, I don't. I didn't even realize from your first post that you were having problems with the cable syncing. It seems like some people have had success by reinstalling ActiveSync but that seems to be hit and miss as well.

Sorry, I misread your earlier post. I thought you'd said that changing the name allowed you to sync with the cable but still not with WiFi.

I'm glad it's working for you.
