The reason I am going to use BT is that I don’t have to buy an expensive network. I have a Motorola router and I can’t get it to work for some reason. To me BT is easier. I have a laptop and I move it to school, others houses, and all over my house. The Bluetooth adapter moves with it and I don’t have to unhook my whole network and move it. All I will have to take with me is a tiny little USB BT adapter. It is also looking to be significantly cheaper!! :D

For the most part I use wifi. But I also use BT quite a bit since I do not have wifi at work. I prefer wifi if it is available.

Bluetooth at home
WiFi at work.

My Ax is my internet connection when I'm at home. I use it to post on these forums from home and I also use it anytime I'm on a bus or train going to or from work. I stream Jazz from www.di.fm , download e-books from www.baen.com/library.

I use bluetooth exclusively, at home and out and about.

I have a 100 meter bluetooth network at home (yes 100 meters, not 10m)

this means i can sync and browse the net anywhere in my house (all for about 1/4 the battery drain of wifi)

when out and about I use my T68i phone to pair with my PPC, to send emails etc

bluetooth is cool! ( im in europe where bluetooth is more popular)

In the U.S. wifi is much more available and useful. Someone in Europe may be able to tell us how they use bluetooth. It is hard to tell right now how useful bluetooth will be for us in the U.S.

I can't really think of one decent reason as to why BT has not taken off in North America. Apart from the fact that too many people associate it as a wifi competitor (which it is not).

I has many many uses. Short range non-line-of-sight communication can replace IrDA, used for networks, used for headsets etc.

For some reasons it's WAY more difficult than it should be to get a 2.5g phone with BT in North America. But imagine having your phone in your pocket with a BT connection to your PPC and surfing high speed on your PPC from anywhere.

It's reality in Europe but only in limited areas of North America.

I got to say that I agree with Howard2k about BT. You cannot really compare BT to Wifi because of the differences between the two. BT offers more than just short range internet, sharing files and syncing to your computer. BT also allows you to use external devices to increase the PDAs effectiveness. Wifi is just mere vehicle for network transmissions; that's all. I felt just like others that BT was useless to me until I really started using it. Now I would be bent out of shape if it was not an option to me.

Other than syncing and sharing files I use BT for my GPS and my headset (not used as often as GPS). I have also used it to connect to a few cellphones for internet connectivity.
