Dell Axim, Activesync wireless connectivity woes
I have an Axim X5 running PPC 2002. I have a working wireless network on my home computer (WIN98SE) utilizing a Linksys USB WUSB11 wireless Adapter. The setup works fine with a notebook computer I have using a wireless PCMCIA card.
I have activesync 3.7.1 installed and operating through a USB connection to the Dell Cradle.
I installed a linksys WCF12 wireless CF card in the Axim, configured it as instructed, and it appears as though it sees the USB Wireless adapter on the PC. However I can't connect using activesync, or connect to the internet.
Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Are the devices setup with static IPs? Can they ping each other?

I can't see the Axim in my PC's Network neighborhood, but when I scan from the Axin it appears to fine the Linksys USB adapter that is connected to my PC

You won't see it in network neighbourhood.
Did you assign IP addresses to them? Or did you leave them to automatic?
Does Windows 98 support Internet Connection Sharing? How does the 98 PC connect to the Internet?

IP addresses assigned by me. Internet is broadband through cable modem, but that isn't my main issue. I want to be able to run Activesync to Outlook 2000 through the wireless network

From the PC, go to Start, Run, Command. From the command prompt type ping 192.168.1.1 . Where 192.168.1.1 is the IP address that you assigned to the Axim.

pinging result is "request timed out".
My Axim linksys monitor shows alternating rx values 244, 488, 610.... tx is zero
when I scan "site survey" I show my network name, a MAC address , ans signal strength at 100%

ok so if the PC cannot ping the PPC then there is something wrong there.
What IP address and subnet mask is configured on each device?

I've been told not to post IP addresses publicly, but I will say it's an incremental value gretaer than others I use succesfully.
Subnet is the same as others I have setup

These are your private IPs, they're fine to post. It's the one facing the Internet thst you should not.

Is that assigned to the PC or PPC? Or both?

The USB Wireless adpater on the PC has a unique IP, the PPC has a unique IP and they both share the same subnet
