I have a linksys wireless router and a dell axim with a wireless linksys cf card installed.
The axim worked great when I wasnt using wep keys , but now that I have installed wep keys, it seems to be hit or miss. My other two notebooks work fine with or without wep keys
I know:
im using 128 bit wep keys, and im entering them in correctly.
the router set up is fine
my other two notebooks work fine with wep keys (dell true mobile wifi card and cisco aironet card)
its not a range issue, doesnt work next to router or in next room.
I had the same issuse with my old iPaq 3765. What I found out was that it was the driver on the iPaq, since everything else works fine. My laptop would connect without a hitch. So, I just simply did a hard reboot and reinstalled the driver FIRST and then all the other software I had on it. JUST MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR AXIM FIRST!!!! Hope this helps.
Sorry, I can't suggest anything to help, but I'm seeing the same things too.
Mine has been running for a month without issues as long as WEP isn't turned on, as soon as WEP is enabled and some bigger files are moved, it locks up the router/AP, requiring a reset to the AP to get things going again.
This is happening with either 128 or 64 bit WEP, but happens more quickly with 128 set. It will usually occur within a few minutes.
Hard reset of the axim and driver re-install have made no difference.
Keys are correct ... it works for a while, everything matches.
Well im glad im not alone... thats the same set up i have.
It doesnt lock my router.. hmmm
One thing i did notice, the paraphrase wep key creator (lack of better word) on my router is a different number combo then the wireless cf card when i enter in the same phrase... I did however enter in the keys to match manually...
The key creators generate matching keys on my gear.
- Firmware 1.44.2z for the Router (also reports Firmware 1.1.2 on the Advanced -> wireless page).
- 1.07.30 for the CF card config utility and network driver. 1.04.02 for the CF firmware.
"Locking up the router" may have been a bit misleading .... the wired switch and router continued to function fine. Only the wirless link hangs up. A soft reset of the Axim would not resolve the problem.
However, either changing some of the wireless settings in the router or reseting the router would get things going again - I assume that either of these actions are causing some sort of soft reset in the wireless part of the device.
I don't have any other wireless NICs, so I don't know if all wireless traffic is being hung up.
It kind of smells like a firmware glitch particular to these two devices ... time to demand satisfaction from Linksys :)

Even though I am using a different router, I see some behavior similar to LAWD's, although not nearly as fast.
I have the WCF12 for my Axim and am using a D-LINK 713P router. After some amount of usage (measured in days or weeks) the wireless part of the router hangs and the only way to fix it is to go to a machine attached by wire and reboot the router. After that everything works great until the next time.
This was also happening before I added my Axim to the network but the amount of time between events was more like weeks/months than days/weeks.
Since it is so easy to resolve I haven't bothered looking into it too much and have been too chicken to update the router firmware (I hate messing with stuff when it *mostly* works!)
