Heart Add Superpower To Your D-link Dcf-660w

I put this inforamtion on one page to help get it all together to all of us that have the D-Link "DCF-660W" card. There were a number of people who found all of this information and they are the ones to thank. I am just Organizing :)

I have tested and worked with these and it is AWESOME. There are 20 access points in the mfg plant I am working and I can use the Winc to watch the access point's signals while I walk the forklift paths. COOOOOOOOOOOOOL

PRISM DRIVER (see instructions for installation at the bottom of the page)

INSTALLATION OF PRISM DRIVER
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Steps to install the new Intersil driver.

1. Connect your PDA with host PC via Microsoft ActiveSync.

2a. Remove your WLAN CF card.

2b. Uninstall your current WLAN CF driver from
ActiveSync->Tools->Add/Remove Programs->

3. Run the exe file downloaded from Intersil on the host PC. Allow the
installation to finish.

4. Insert the WLAN CF card.

5. A dialog box opens up to ask you the driver name for the card.

6. Give the name as "PRISMNDS.DLL".

7. If the intersil "i" Logo doesn't show at the right bottom corner of
the PDA, remove the card, then insert it again.

8. When the Intersil "i" logo shows, you are finished the installation.

The driver may also be installed by loading the .CAB file on to a CF or
SD card, and installing directly on to the PDA."

Thank you

I was able to pull that driver down and it magically solved all my problems. I do not know why the driver provided by d-link did not work, but at this point i do not care. This driver provided above installed without any issues. I can't say it works better "per say" because I did not get the other one to work. But since this driver is aparently written by the manufacturer of the chipset it works with analysis and sniffing suites. Once again, thanks for the post!!! If anyone has any problem installing the drivers provided by d-link (i.e. the package will not install like any normal ppc package) please try this. :D

Just installed this driver. Before the Prism driver, I had installed the UPDATED version of the DLink driver that someone had posed the FTP address for on this board a few weeks back. I can't say that I notice any performance differences between this driver and the updated DLink driver. Strength/speed are about the same on both. However, it does allow the use of WINC, which would not work with DLink driver. Dlink driver had an APbrowser built into it which was kind of nice feature, but these extra programs are available to accomplish that + more. So guess I'm just pretty much saying I'm neutral on this driver so far.

Grrrr....I shoulda stuck with the old rule of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I put the Prism drivers on my Ax, worked great for awhile. As of this morning, the Axim didn't even recognize the card anymore. So thought, no problem, I'll just put back on the DLink 2.00 drivers that have been working great for me up until this point. So I uninstall the Prism drivers, soft reset, install DLink 2.00 drivers, soft reset, then try it out. The card won't even turn on now!! I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times and several different configs with no luck. Just my luck I guess.....shouldn't have messed with the new drivers in the first place. :) Anyhow, I'll quit my rambling now, and back up stuff before the all-dreaded hard reset.

Off and On

I like the Prism driver as you can turn the card on and off from the menu.

Where is the new driver for the D-Link from D-Link????

Intersil Driver no longer on their web site

I just tried the Intersil link for the driver and the driver link is broken: http://www.intersil.com/design/prism...T-EXE_WinCE300(2-0-9).zip

I am sure someone here has downloaded a copy, so please message me if you do. I am really interested in getting Pocket Warrior to work with my Axim.

Hmm

Hi ThInKeR,

I've already tried that link earlier, and if you click on 'agree', goto the next page, then click on the CE 3.0 Driver File link: ISL3PRDSUIT-EXE_WinCE300(2-0-9).zip it will kick you to an error page stating the file is not found. Hence why I am asking for the drive from a private party. Thanks though.

By the way, I've been fiddling with D-Link's v2 driver for DCF-660W and I can never get it to work when it's installed in built-in-storage (ROM) or on my San Disk 128Meg SD card. It would, however, work if it's installed in the default location (Main Memory).

I had the same problem with the original D-Link driver from the install CD, but after a few attempts (6?), I was able to get it working on the SD card.

(Yes, it's hardware version v.A00 according to the sticker on the back of my Ax. The ship date for my Ax was 2/27/2003 and my D-pad feels weird when I press up)
