Any WiFi Driver Tips?

I have a X30 High. I can connect to my home Wifi with no issues. I had to switch my Linksys AP from from "Short" to "Long" preamble, and 'Broadcast' my SSID. Once the X30 connected I disabled the broadcast and it continued to work just fine. I left the preamble on Long.

At he office we have a WiFi network. I know the AP name, IP address and MAC address. I beleive they do not broadcast the AP name and use 'Short' preamble. No matter what I have tried I cannot even see the network. There is little to no chance of the IT group allowing the AP name to be broadcast, even for a few minutes, same with switching the preamble from Short to Long. I have created a Wireless Profile on the X30 with the AP name. My company laptop runs on a WiFi card and works great, I just cannot get the X30 to see the network? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if Mini-stumbler or WiFifofum(?) would work or not. I know they can see the SSID if you are set up for it. Not sure if it will find if it is not broadcasting though.

Could it be they only allow MAC address of known devices?

I have tried Mini-stumbler, WiFiFoFum & PocketWinc with no luck. Thanks for trying to help.

Is it a wireless G networkwork if so It will not connect. It is probably using Wpa of some sort. Wpa is available to you via Funk odyssey if you have the latest rom revision

I just got a network guy to tell me that they do not do any MAC filtering, so that is not the problem. Thanks.

Definitely wireless B. Network uses Cisco LEAP. I have the Funk Odyssey set up for that, but still cannot get a connection.

Perhaps the problem is the short preamble I remember reading certain chipsets have problems with it (I could hjave it backwards and long might be the problem child, I just know oen isn't handled well).

Well I did have a Network Security tech look at my Axim. He said there was no reason why it should not connect. They broadcast the SSID, they do not filter MACs, they do use Short preamble and they do use LEAP Authentication. He tried for about a half hour to get it to see and connect to the network, but could not get it to work. He suggested calling Dell. We never could see the network with the supplied applications (we could see it with ministumbler, but he said netstumbler sometimes blocks connections of the wired network and suggested we remove it.)

I'm guessing it is all about the Axim not being able to handle the short preamble. Again, once I switched my home network to long preamble it became visible. The Network security guy said zero chances of them changing to long preamble, so I need to find a way to get the Axim to recognize short preamble.

I know the X30 already has an integrated wifi card, but perhaps now it time to look into external ones.
