Everything works except Activesync

I've got my Axim connecting wirelessly to the internet without any problems (internet, email, and IM), but I can't get activesync to work.

I've read through the forums and the tutorial on this subject, and can't seem to find the missing link.

Here's what happens:

I open Activesync on the Axim and tap "Sync". The status indicator changes to "Connecting", and the lan card LED flashes quickly (which means that data is being transferred), but after about 5 seconds, the status indicator changes to "not Connected", and the LED quits flashing.

Any idea what's going on?

I'm connected with a socket CF lan card and a Microsoft base station.

Thanks,
Russ

did you enable TCP/IP in the connection settings at the PC? any firewalls running?

Start->settings->connections->connections

Just set everything to work

Good catch - I disabled both Norton Internet Security and the router firewall, and activesync started working.

I then enabled both firewalls, and it still works.

Networks are so mysterious...

Thanks for the help,

Russ

Close, but no cigar.

It looks like the router firewall is OK with activesync, but Norton Internet Security isn't.

Anybody know how to configure Norton Firewall to allow network activesync?

i had the same problem b4, the catch is that u have to figure out which program listed in Norton firewall sittings that activesync uses. i couldn't do that so i used the simplest way i removed all programs in Norton firewall sittings so that afterwards Norton firewall will ask me when a program tries to connect to the PC and do i want to allow that connection and when u use active sync it will give u this message and u just click permit and check "allways use this action with that program" box and u will never have any problems with active sync again. i hope that this was of help to u.

Asynch wants to connect to port 990 on your Axim (outgoing) and you Axim want port 999 5678 and 5679 open for TCP (incoming).

I went into Norton Firewall to change the settings, and discovered that there is a wizard to configure settings for home networks. Ran the wizard, and it seems to be working.

(For others with similar problems, you get to the wizard under "Personal Firewall", "Configure", "Home Networking", "Wizard").

Cool

Got one even better. I use zone alarm pro, set everything up "right" and still no go. Went back to look and noticed the apply button was still highlighted, so I pushed it and tada! everything worked. Using a 802G router now and the diff is quite a bit. Love sitting in my backyard an syncing and crusing the net.
