Connection to Cisco guest wifi network

Hi all. I am looking to connect to a Cisco WAP that is configured with a guest login prompt which usually pops up whenever people attempt to connect to a website via their browser. At this time, they are able to input any username and password as a guest account. The problem is, this prompt does not come up on my X5 - even though I have associated and been assigned an IP addy. I tried searching for awhile, but couldn't find anything - forgive me if I overlooked something.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks,

What happens if you just open IE and try to browse to a web page? (any web page)

Nothing really. It eventually times out and states that the page could not be found. I can't get anywhere from my Axim at this point. No web pages, no connection on AIM or MSN and cannot ping a public address. There's no encryption and as mentioned, I get associated and assigned a public IP. Can pocket IE not handle the authentication pop up? Ugh! :(

Is it possible that the Access Point is not caompatible with PPC. Even though most web pages come up in some way or fashion, could it be the underlying software protocols causing this? Have you tried another PPC?

I have yet to try another PPC, but resources are limited. I have to see if I can get someone else to test it out. Is there another browser that may, perhaps, show the authentication pop-up? Just curious. Any additional suggestions welcome.

I used my Axim with a Cisco BBSM box before and it worked well, but if the particular authentication you require needs a Java applet (for example) them you may be out of luck.
