What is the Odyssey client for?

Hello,

I have a new x50V. I'm trying to connect to an open network (hotspot?) through wifi.

When i turn wireless on nothing really happens unless i turn on the Odyssey client. It connects and then sometimes i can surf the net sometimes not (i get messages that modem isn't set up , or settings need to be set or other messages).

My questions are:

1. Is the Odyssey client needed to access a hotspot?
2. If yes, what setting do i need to use for Odyssey as well as the other network settings on the pda.
3. If Odyssey isn't needed then what other settings do i need to use to connect to a hotspot?

I'm not connecting to any networks that are my own, but to whatever networks that the unit can connect to.

4. Is part of the problem is that the networks that i've found allow me to connect but then don't allow me to use them to surf the net? Or if you can connect you should be able to surf?

I'm sure this is simple for some, but i'm confused!

Thanks in advance for shedding any light on this subject.
I have read some of the wifi faq's but did'nt find the info i need.

Some hotspots will not allow you to connect, they are protected by security measures, such as WEP, other hot spots require an account (like hotspots at Star Bucks)

Other hot spots have no security, but are privately owned and is (from what I understand, illegal to access them)

I would avoid hot spots, unless you know where its coming from and you have permission to access it.

Oddysey is not required to connect, some users have trouble connecting without it, I personally dont use it.
