The 'z' fixes a bug with the k700i. It just tells the k700i modem to reset itself to default settings before it attempts to dial. I found out about it in a k700i forum - can't remember where though. You could try putting both extra dial strings in - just make sure z is first because it resets the modem.

I have been following this thread with interest - my x50v and k700i can now talk to each other. When I launch pocket explorer and eneter a web address the pda links to the phone and connects, the world symbol appears on the phone and the connection icon on the axim flashes. However rather than load the page I get the message "requested page is not available"
Anyone know how to setup the LG phone from sprintpcs? Their tech support was clueless. I talked to two diffent people who have me two different anwers. I am hoping that someone knows this. Thanks.
I been reading a lot about the compatibility issues between phones and pdas. Looks like my setup is correct but my devices just don't jive. My axim will dial the phone but the phone omits no sound in the headset. The screen shows that the number has been dialed and that the phone is connected- just can't hear any ringing or pickup on the other end when the call is answered by voice mail. I had it dial my other cell phone and the phone rings but again no sound on either phone so I am assuming this is a compatibility bug.
I can set up a dial up connection and it will dial but causes my cell phone to hang up after 17 seconds and then reset. Totally funky.
Needless to say I am very disappointed in the LG and may return it. If anyone has any other solutions, I am all ears. I did try some third party software to see if that would help and it hasn't. I use Sprint so I am stuck I guess.
Don't know about the US, but LG has a bad reputation for phones in the UK. Their LG7100 was absolutely horrendous (which model do you have?); in any event, I'm not surprised that you're having difficulties.
They do, however, make excellent washing machines...!

I'm amazed that you only have a choice of one bluetooth phone.
So are you simply trying to dial contacts through your x50 to your cell phone? Or is it a GPRS connection for internet surfing that you're after (or both)?

I am trying to do both. I have a x30 and I have paired it with the phone no problem. I tested it immediately after pairing to see if it would dial a contact. When I did, it dialed but no sound. Next, I went to setup a bt dial up modem connection. Named it Sprint set number to #777 which is the number for the pcs web for pda and set the dialing commands to G so it would dial strictly the #777. Then typed my username and left the password and domain blank as prescribed by tutorials that I have seen for sprint on other posts. tested it a few times and get the thing to dial but then hangs up and the phone turns off and turns back on. Don't know what else I can do. I think I have all the bases covered. Maybe not.

I have been playing around with bt and it is performing a bit better than I posted above after deleting and reestablishing connections. It is dialing and waking up the phone but still no sound when I hold the headset up to my ear which makes me think I am missing something small here...is this because it is for use with a hands free kit only???. In terms of the dial up I suspect that either a password is needed or there is a glitch somewhere. Third party dialers are showing the same results so it doesn't appear that the device's native bt dialer is malfunctioning. If anyone else using sprint and can confirm the password issue that would be great.
Thanks for the pointers on this. I am with T-Mobile (UK) and had a bit of a job finding their extra dial string. I have to confess that this was solved by my lady who found this site that gave some detail on the UK operators parameters. http://www.filesaveas.com/pocketpcconnect.html
Hi I am trying to set up my Dell X30 via buletooth to connect to the internet using a Sony Ericsson T630. I am based in Ireland and on the O2 network. It was all so simple on my palm T3.

Have you tried contacting O2 for the settings? Also, check out www.howardforums.com
I finally got my Axim 3xi to Work with my Motorolla V551 via a Socket Bluetooth card with a Cingular Data Connect plan. The Baud rate is set at 115200 as is faster than I expected. The correct extra string dialing commands were critical to this success. Thanks to everyone who participated in this problem solving venture.
