I have read through this thread with interest. I have a Dell Axim 51 and a Samsung D500 on O2 pay and go. GPRS is set up on my mobile phone. I don't subscribe as yet to O2's £7.50 a month data bolt on, but would do so if I could get my phone to work as a modem such that I can browse/access my emails via the web. I have tried setting up my phone as a modem in order to go on line on the Axim using suggested settings in this thread and have failed miserably. My friend who has a contract account with Orange has been able to set up his phone as a modem with my Axim.

Is this a problem with my O2 account (ie I need to have set up a data bolt on in order to set the phone up as a modem), the age of the phone (I have successfully bluetoothed data between the phone and Axim previously) or something else I am missing.
