How to boost signal of wifi?

I am commonly getting poor signal with my wifi connection even when the wireless gateway is just 5 meters away. How do I boost the wifi signal and the quality of the connection on the X50v??

Barf> That's for the WAP54G. There are plenty of other routers and APs around.

Loveorigin> How are you measuring the signal strength? Which router is it? Do you have other wireless devices? Do they get poor range too? Do you have a 2.4GHz phone?

No. I don't use any 2.4 Ghz phones. My gateway is from Motorola and my pc Linksys wireless usb card works very well with Strong signal reception. Using the WLAN Utility on the X50V shows the signal as poor under the "config" tab with values of like -70/0, what does the number means? .

-70 will be the strength in dBm. That's not too hot.

It might be that the internal antenna is faulty (bad/no connection).

Disable wireless power saving. That should make no difference, but let's rule it out.

Then I'd consider a backup, hard reset and then try with a 'clean' x50. Don't restore.
