Ok I did a seach but did not seem to understand what was being said.

I went some place today that had freem wirless availalable. But I had a connection error. I cannot remember what it said exactly but that was about it. I got a steady green light on my wif card but I could not connect. Is there an easy way to get it to connect so then when I get back home I can get it to connect again?
I dont know much about this but with every ones help so far on this site I am learing.

How was this free access provided? Was it a hotspot or were you trying to connect to someone's private router that did not require a WEP key?

Some free, and most pay, hotspots require you to go to their website and login of some sort in order to gain access.

When you are in range of the hotspt and connected, open IE and try to navigate to any page. Their system should automaticaly route your page to their site and advise you what you need to do in orer to gain access.

If it was someone's private router, they may have had MAC filtering enabled which would prevent you from connecting.

No it was a coffee house that is a free hot spot. I could not get on to a web site and it did not take me to one.
The funny thing now is my AgileMessanger does not work at home when I try to get onto yahoo.
