symbol spectrum24 LA4137 CF CARD into X5
Ok, I'm a great believer in search engines and am a keen poster on scoobynet, so I've just spent the last 2.5 hours searching this site for a solution to my problem :rolling:
I have an x5, and a just bought symbol spectrum24 LA4137 cf wireless card.
My home network is based around a draytek vigor 2200usb hub, with a spark lan wireless hub conected to it. This works fine for the wifes laptop with centrino network built in.
I have tried:
1, sockets "old" drivers (unrecognised card message)
2, sockets "new" drivers (unrecognised card message)
3, symbols own beta driver from early last year! The card seemed to work, with the green light flashing steadily, but no software loaded with the drivers
I tried to use pocket winc, but that wouldn't detect the card, even though the light was flashing.
I then tried wififofum, but again, no joy as it wouldn't detect any network at all.
So, I then uninstalled everything, except the symbol beta drivers wouldn't get off my system completly, saying that a few dll's were still being used and I was to shut down any running programs, which of course there weren't any
Short of a hard reset, which I really dont want to have to do, what do you suggest?
Thanks in advance,
chris.

It may be a little late but it would have been a good idea to make a backup before you started adding multiple drivers. Then you could have restored to preinstallation before trying the next. I really think your best option is hard reset at this point since removing all the bits and pieces of various drivers loaded on top of each other will be really difficult.
BTW, I looked on Symbol's site. If you have WM03, you should probably use the top utility at this link (it's driver version 3.9.2-67 that were released in Nov 04) or the second set (v. 3.18; Dec 01) if you have PPC02. I've used both of these on PPCs without any problems.

I also am having a problem with installing the Mobile Companion Utility for the PC.
But I have no problem picking up a neighbor's Lynksys. signal with my X5 using the Symbol Wireless Compactflash card.
I can't get the Symbol card to recognise my system.

crikey ike, I thought I was up late last night on GMT! :)
So, a hard reset is my best option? Damn!
Looks like I'm going to have to reinstall tomtom3 too, and everything else, oh well, it needed cleaning up :)
I'll let you know how I get on,
chris.

well, hard reset didn't work on either of sockets drivers :(
so, reinstalled the symbol drivers again. The card is at least recognised, and the green light flashes, and there's a green bar icon at the top of the today screen, which when tapped, displays: "spectrum 24 reset completed"
I presume somewhere along the way, I'm supposed to get a dialogue box to allow me to input info about my home network in, but I dont. what would I put in if I did?
This is getting confusing now :(
chris.

Check the WiFi Guide linked from my signature for help setting up the wireless.
BTW, it was a little before 9pm local time when I posted the above.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'the hard reset didn't work on either of the socket drivers.' A hard reset clears everything from memory and resets the registry to factory defaults. Even if you'd installed the drivers on the built-in storage (where the actual files would survive the reset), they would not be active.

cw42, Sounds as if you only installed the drivers. Use the wm2003 symbol drivers & utilites from the following link http://www.symbol.com/services/downl...n_drivers.html
when you install the symbol software from memory(my memory, not the computers ) there is a menu page appears on your PC screen with 3 possible installation (not nessesarly in this order though)
1) Drivers for Laptop PC
2) Driver for Pocket PC
3) Drivers Plus utilities for PocketPC
Install drivers & utilies then soft reset your PPC and then insert the wifi Card.
When the card is inserted there should be an wifi utility icon in the bottom right hand corner toolbar which allows you to select networks and install wep key's Etc.
Any problems pm me and I'll forward the correct files.
Cheers Jim

Just curious - are you running PPC2002 or WM2003? My X5 is using PPC2002, and i cant ever get the MC from Symbol to get past the resetting point to give me the setup options.

I'm using the Symbol card on my X5 with PPC02 without any problems. You need the older drivers from Symbol's website (third one down on the link I posted above).

somewhere along the way I lost the config network icon in the bottom right of my Axim X5, and now I can't re-config my card... I'm trying multiple install methods as I remember having problems getting everything to work originally...
Any ideas if that disapears again? Is there a manual way to run it?
Thanks,
-Corey

Not Working...
Morning Everyone,
I just installed the drivers on my axim for my symbol card la4137, I soft rest and plugged in the card, but there are no network cards listed. Furthermore, the symbol "mode property" page never appeared, at all.
The drivers are no longer available from Symbol's website and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?
