Wireless Mail with both POP3 and SMTP

Sorry if this has been answered, I did a search and have been reading for two hours. My problem is I have set up my "POP3" e-mail and can receive fine, but when I send I get an error message about checking my settings and such. I feel the problem is because my ISP uses POP3 for incomming mail, and SMTP for outgoing mail. Both with the same server name. "mail.insightbb.com" Of course I have had no luck getting this to work. I have tried every combination possible with the SSL and stuff. But now I am stuck and out of ideas. Below is a cut and paste of what little information I found on my IPS help files. Thanks~

Adam

Internet Settings and Addresses

These are the different Insight Broadband server addresses, which will help you access different areas of your Insight Broadband account.

Customer's HSD Identification

Email Address: username@insightbb.com
Login ID: username (this is the name before the @ symbol in an email address)

Mail Server Names

POP3 (Incoming Mail) Server: mail.insightbb.com
SMTP (Outgoing Mail) Server: mail.insightbb.com

Well, seconds after I posted this I found the answer. Not only did I need the "SSL" and "My server requires authentication". The trick was under "outgoing server settings" I had to change the user name to be my entire e-mail address. Where in the normal set up it was just the part before the @. What a pain. Thanks anyway, hopefully this will help someone else with the same problem!

I still have a question. What type of machine are you checking your mail from? I assume you are not using Pocket Outlook (Axim) Becaue my Pocket Outlook doesn't have a place to enter a username / password for the OUTGOING mail server. Which is really bugging the cr*p out of me becasue I need to use a different one than my incoming.

So far no one on the board has even attempted to answer my question about how to use 2 different servers or even if you can.

I could swear I have seen a Pocket Outlook setting on someones else PPC that has a setting for both just like my Outlook 2002 does.

ANYONE????

I'm trying to access my insightbb.com mail from my cell phone but cannot get it to work. When I select TLS/SSL encryption on my phone, it asks me for a domain. I have tried leaving this blank, using insightbb.com, and mail.insightbb.com. No matter what I use, when trying to send/receive mail I get a message saying "unsupported TLS certificate".

Not sure if this is what you are after, but I click Accounts then Accounts... then click on my POP3 account (it's already setup so in the next sentences I just say 'click next' because the settings are in there... you may need to set yours up). I click Next on the e-mail address screen, next on the User Information Screen, Next on the Account Information screen then choose options on the Server Information screen (I have 2 different servers in ingoing and outgoing). I click next on the Options (1/3) page. On the Options (2/3) screen I put a check mark in both 'Outgoing mail requires authentication' and 'Use Separate Settings' then click Outgoing Settings... there you can spec more info. From there I just continue on...
Hope this helps some.... :approve:

I can have a separate POP and SMTP on nPopw (freeware). I couldn't get this to work on Pocket Outlook, and could get it to work on nPop.

I too need separate POP (my home ISP connection), but they don't allow external SMTP. So I have to use my webserver's SMTP (which is fine by them).
