Activesync Passthrough over WiFi Ad-Hoc

Has anyone had any success in using Activesync Passthrough over a WiFi Ad-Hoc connection? Using an X5 with Symbol CF WiFi card, I can create an Ad-Hoc connection with a laptop, which has both wired and wireless nic's, and sync successfully through Activesync - including Avantgo. However, I can't browse the web using Passthrough and I get the dreaded "page you are looking for cannot be found".

I can't use ICS (at least I don't think so) because it changes the IP address to 192.xxx.xxx.xxx which then messes up my corporate network connection. I've tried setting up the Passthrough connection as both 'Work' and 'The Internet', and I've also confirmed that Activesync is setup to remain connected.

Anyone have any ideas?
