Detecting WiFi networks

Is there a way to prevent the X50v from auto-detecting neighbors WiFi networks? I'm getting tired of dismissing the WiFi connect dialogue box and deleting networks from the WLAN Setting screen almost everytime I turn the thing on. However, I don't want to screw-up the ability to detect public networks when I'm at airports and such.

Just got my X50 too and I am curios about this one too. I will look into Odyssey Client. It maybe the place to look to get this done. A third party program may be needed for this.

That's wierd. I've got that box un-checked that says to connect to un-preferred networks. I've got a neighbor somewhere that has a Netgear router because it showed up on a scan I did through WiFiFoFum. It never pops up a connection window when I turn on my WiFi and connect with my Access Point, nor is his SSID listed in my connection SSID listings.

If no preferred networks are found (which I think means SSIDs listed in your connections), then it'll begin searching for networks. I know this because when I go out, and turn on WiFi, it'll scan a bit, and then after awhile start popping up network found boxes.

I've got the "connect to un-preferred networks" box unchecked as well but I still get SSIDs showing up. You must have SSID broadcasting turned off on your AP, right?

Nope, my SSID is broadcasting. So is my neighbor (obviously), but mine is a permanent SSID in my connection list, so there's no reason for it to pop up anything.

I wouldn't even have known about my neighbor's router if I hadn't done a scan with WiFiFoFum. I went to my local Applebee's, and they had a wireless network (no key), and so did the Best Buy a good 70-100 yards away (only good enough to get the name, but no signal). They both popped up windows letting me know about the wireless connections in the area. When I get home, it immediately connects to my home AP and doesn't even pop up anything about my neighbor's AP/Router.

Maybe I'll try disabling my AP temporarily and see if it pops up anything about my neighbor's Netgear

Okay, I finally figured this out. When a neighbor's network is detected, a notification message and sound event occur. I simply turned these off in Settings\Sounds & Notifications\Notifications Tab\Connection established event. Networks are still detected but no more annoying popups.
