Found a free hotspot...Now What!!!??

Hi, thanks for reading this..

I recently went to Barcelona on holiday and was able to connect to the free airport Wi Fi system but I could not get onto the internet.

Everytime I tried I got the "Cannot Display this Page" message. Very frustrating as I had a two hour wait for the plane.

What is the proceedure for using Hot spots??

I can surf using my home wireless network which has WEP turned on but could not use the Free one which had WEP disabled.

Can someone point me in the proper direction please.

I am planning a trip to the States soon and want to use the Wi Fi there..

I am using a Dell Axim X5 with the Dell wireless CF CARD.

Thanks..Rob

A couple of things to try:

1. Disable powersave
2. Try "Internet" if using "Work" and vice versa

Don't know about the hotspot you were using, but at Panera Bread you have to load their terms of service page (this happens automatically if you run PIE after connecting) and agree to it before you can access any internet sites. Note: The button to agree to the terms of service is at the bottom of the page at Panera, and easy to miss.

Also, are you sure it was a FREE hotspot? Most pay hotspots allow you to connect, but to get to the internet you have to enter a user id and password.
