X30, WiFi & Roaming Between AP's

We've got several Cisco 1200 AP's set up throughout our 6-floor building (same SSID's, different channels, WEP enabled). Axim's have no problem connecting, acquiring IP's and syncing data wirelessly. However, when a user walks from the front of the building to the rear, 5th floor to the 4th or otherwise roams between AP's, the connection is dropped and isn't reconnected until the user soft-resets or enables/disables their WiFi (with the button on the side).

I called Dell Axim support this morning and they said this was "normal" and that transparent channel-hopping simply doesn't work on Axim's; you must disable/enable or soft-reset. Has that been your experience as well? Is there any way around this? I'm having trouble finding any resources on the net that categorically state whether or not seamless roaming is possible.

I thought even with computers Wi-Fi connections had to be dropped before being picked up again. I've had this issue using Skype on MIT campus...I can't walk around with it.

I did a bit of tweaking today... set adjacent AP's to channels 1/6/11 and it seems to have helped a lot. I was able to roam the building and it switched AP's without disconnecting me or me having to reinitiate the link.

What do you folks think about the powersave options? I disabled powersave for the WiFi connection, might that help? In my test outlined above, the Axim never went to sleep...
