wi/fi ?

Hi all,
While I have been using computers since the mid 80's I am new to wi/fi, etc.
Last night while getting gas I turned on my X30 and then turned on the wi/fi and got connected to something. I decided to surf the web but it seemed to take forever to load a page.
Is this normal or does it deoend on the host connection? Thanks for all your help.

My webpages load fairly quick almost comparable to my laptop speed but it depends on how strong a signal you are connected to. A good strong signal connection transmitts and recieves data faster than a poor weak connection. Next time you are connected check your signal status to see if the performance is saying its good or not also make sure powersave is turned off on your pda.

Wifi does not necessarily mean you can just turn on your wifi anywhere you are and expect to surf the web. If you are at a hotspot that is meant for public use (e.g., Panera), then connecting shouldn't be that difficult. If you are having problems, you should just ask for help (e.g., from an employee, etc.). However, many networks that your Axim can detect are privately owned; lack of security does not necessarily imply that they are free for everyone to use.
