I don't have a Wireless router. Can I use a Wireless G adapter on my Dell PC when it is turned on to connect my x50v to my Cable Internet connection through the PC? Can I use it to access files on my PC?
I tried setting my PC to share Internet, but it gives me a IP address conflict error. Has anyone here tried any of this?
actually, it will work. You will have to set it up in ad-hoc and it will work.
You're right - I forgot about I.C.S. (never use it)! But a wireless router would be better because the PC wouldn't have to be online in order to go online with the Axim.

Ad-hoc will work ok. You can check www.tigerdirect.com for specials. Sometimes they will have a wireless router FREE after rebates. Not a bad price.

Yes I have tried Ad-Hoc, but the problem I think is stated in my 1st post, some problem with setting WinXP to allow other PCs connect through it to the Internet. I can see the Ad-Hoc listed on my x50v, but can do nothing with it.
I know I can get a $10 AR router, just trying to see if I can do it w/o a router 1st if anyone can help that'd be super!
does the pc connect through wireless or through wired to the internet? If it connects through wireless, then when in ad-hoc neither can get the internet. If it connects through wired, then the wireless should work. Go to the controll panel and then network connections and then right click and press properties on the wireless card and go to the advanced tab and press the box that says "allow other network users to connects through this computer's internet connection" and it should configure it!
The router will by default be using 192.168.0.x which is also the range that ICS wants to use. Just go and move your router to the 192.168.1.x range and let ICS use the 192.168.0.x range.

You're right. But there is SOMETHING that's using the same overlapping IP range. Could the DSL/Cable modem be assigning RFC1918 addresses? Unlikely right.
stormloader. Go to a command prompt and run ipconfig and post the results.

Actually, he said he doesn't have a wireless router. The fact that he got an IP conflict suggests that he is using a wired router (probably a D-Link or Netgear which uses the 192.168.0. IP set).
stormloader, if this is the case, instead of ICS, simply bridge the WiFi and NIC on your PC so the router can assign all the IPs.

Thanks for all the responses. I have tried to use a Bridge before posting my question here, and yes, you guessed it, it didn't work. Yes I have a wired router.
My IPAddress is 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1
So I should use Howard2k's solution?
"...move your router to the 192.168.1.x range and let ICS use the 192.168.0.x range."
Or are there other suggestions? I don't want to do anything that will make other network/Internet conflicts obviously...
