WiFi problem, please help!

Any suggestions about a software that will take over the WiFi system?

I live in New York and anywhere within the city you can find tens of WiFi stations. The problem is, as soon as I turn the WiFi on, it connects to someone (even though the automatic connect thing is off) and if that connection is unsuccessful I cannot connect to anyone else and I have to do a soft reset. Sometimes, the Dell WLAN Utility indicates that I'm connected to GUY1 but the icon above the screen shows I'm not! (ok the guy has a WEP key, I get it but check this one out...) sometimes its the other way around, the icon says I'm connected while I'm really not!

Even at home, sometimes, it connects to the neighbor's WiFi. Is there is software that I can use that I can say, ok this WiFi is my home, if you see it, dont ask, just connect. This other guy is my neighbor, he's on the black list, never connect to him. This guy (I'm on the street) is verizon, I have an account, this is the password, just connect if you see him. This other guy is T-mobile, I dont have an account, will never get one, never connect and never ask.

What a simple software which I cant find.

P.S. My hardware is ok since if Im always home, when I turn it off and on, it connects immediately. But If I connect to someone outside the house and come back home the confusion starts again.

P.S. Boingo is a disaster, the damage it did to my connection system never went away until I completely hard reset my Axim. Boingo and Odessy together can make you never connect to your home network for ever. Now that I got rid of both, I can at least connect to my home WiFi (and sometimes to the neighbor)

P.S. By the way the WEP+TEKA option does not work. I;m pretty sure most of you have not had to deal with an overly secure company network. I have the WEP key but I cant connect, it keeps connecting and dropping withing a few seconds.

HELP! IS THERE ANYONE PROGRAMMING ANYTHING FOR WIFI USERS OR AM I STUCK WITH GOING THROUGH SYSTEM AND SETTING AND RESETTING? SO FRUSTRATING AND USELESS. I want to google something, it takes me 10-20 minutes to finally establish a connection and I lose a lot of battery time. Is there any help? Any hope? PLEASE ADVISE!

Now as to your question, if you have not see it already I strongly recomend the Wi-Fi guide HERE. It will more then likely answer your questions. If not come back and I am sure someone will be able to help. Just one post at a time however.

Have you tried WiFiFoFum yet? Might be what you are looking for. Doing any VOIP with the Axim?

Sorry about the multiple posts, I'm just confused since there are so many different forums for x30 like my issue can be posted in the main/windows 2003/ wireless communications/ applications. It won't happen again.

Thanks for the posts and suggestions! :)

It shouldn't be that difficult. The software should search and connect you when an open WiFi spot is available, (seemlessly if possible) like a cell phone does.
