Wireless stuck in "Scanning Network"

For some reason, all of a sudden, my wireless utility hangs in "Scanning Network" and won't connect to any of the available networks.

Anyone ever have this problem? Or can you offer some help?

Thanks

Maybe there are no networks in the area?

Have you tried it where you KNOW there is something available? Also, have you tried a soft reset?

I'm trying it on my home network which is a strong connection. I've also done about 6 soft resets...

Look near the bottom of the WM03SE section of the WiFi Guide for the "Lost or not found" solution. If that doesn't work, try changing the channel on your router. The repair button in Network troubleshooting is another option (I think this is just in the X30).

Have you just upgraded to A03, if you have an X50?

Do you have the SSID broadcast disabled on your router? If so, try enabling SSID broadcast and see if the PDA picks up the signal. You can also try re-entering the network settings for you connection, WEP keys, SSID, etc.

The wireless network is seen on my Axim. It does say the name of my network with the signal strength at "normal." However, it never changes from "Scanning Network" to "trying to connect" or "connected to network"

EDIT: What's A03?

A03 is the latest ROM update for the X50v. Since you didn't fill out your profile, we have no idea what pda you have. Maybe try the link in my signature.

Did you resolve your problem?

I all of a sudden now I am experiencing the same problem. I have the X50V with A02 update and am trying to connect to my local network and it is seeing the network and says the signal strength is normal. But the status shows scanning network.

Any suggestions to resolve this problem would be appreciated

Mad

I also have an Axim x50v and have never managed to get it to connect. The network shows as available but the status in the WLAN utility always shows 'scaning network' and never connects.

I have a Netgear DG834G router and have tried all of the usual steps from turning MAC filtering off, disabling WEP and broadcasting SSID, with no effect.

Please, if anyone knows the solution, let us have it.

The most irritating thing is that my old Axim X5 with a TrueMobile 1180 CF WiFi card works faultlessly! Why can't it be that simple with the x50v?

Have you tried changing the channel on the router? If there is another network or some other interference near by, it could be causing your problem. My understanding of the TM1180 is that it has very poor range, so the interferring signal may be low enough to not bother it but still be an issue with your X50.

Just a quick update. WiFi on my x50v now works with my home network!!!

I went through all of the recommended actions again, but this time I completely deleted all wireless network settings and built up the profile from scratch. I then disabled SSID broadcast and MAC filtering on the router until I had established the connection on the x50v and bingo! I reinstated MAC filtering and disabled SSID braodcast and it is now fine. I can surf and sync wirelessly. It seems that deleting all of the settings is the secret.

The only slight irritation is that I need to toggle 'Connects to' between 'The Internet' and 'Work' to surf and sync respectively. But. hey that's a minor point that I can live with. :)
