x30 and Network key/authentication failure

I can configure the wifi if I
disable WEP encryption on my wireless router,
And if I set (On my Axim x30h)
Authentication to OPEN
and
Date Encryption to DISABLED.

This isn't a long term solution, but it's a sanity check. The network will work, but I need a bit of security, obviously.

While trying to COnfigure Network Authentication I keep getting
"The network key you entered is not correct. Please try again."

I'm assuming that the network key the same as the 64 bit wep passphrase on my wireless router...Is this correct?

I am using a Belkin Cable/DSL Router and am successfully using it with my laptop. I have it set up for DHCP, mac address filtering, and 64bit automatic WEP encryption. I enter the passphrase on the Belkin config utility, and on my laptop, and have no problems.

When I enter it on the x30 I get the above error.

0. I put my Axim mac address in the mac address filtering table of the wireless router.
1. I enable wireless, and turn off bluetooth. The Blue light goes off, The green light flashes slowly,
2. I go to settings->Connections->Network Cards.
It detects my local (and my neighbor's) domain and reports it in the wireless network list group.
3. I select my domain and proceed to Configure Wireless Network
4. I select the Network Key tab and set
Authentication: Open
Data Encryption: WEP (why can't I specify 64bit, 128bit, etc?)
Network Key: (here I set it to my 64bit passphrase)

It errors out with the above error and won't let me exit unless I disable Data Encryption.

I'm close, I think. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Ed

No, don't use the passphrase, use the actual key.

please help me

I'm having a similiar problem. I'm using a wireless usb adapter on my network. It only allows me to use 128 bit WEP Encryption. Does the pocket pc not support 128 bit WEP Encryption, because when I enter the key on my pocket pc it is never accepted by the adapter.

Something else I just noticed was that on my adapter's setup software, the key is 21 characters - doesn't it need to be 26 for 128-bit encryption?

Ok I figured it out. The crappy setup software wasn't displaying the whole key!
